I conduct workshops with children and teach media students. Some of my work includes:
Workshops with primary level children living in slums, in association with an NGO called Pratham. This was aimed at generating writing from the children about their lives and their world.
Workshops with teenage students from several Delhi schools on issues of identity and belonging, as part of the Home and Away exhibition. The workshops resulted in creative work – writing and art – by the children.
Writing workshops for children up to the age of 12, focussing on writing about the world around them. Some of these have been for the British Council Library, the Reading Caterpillar children’s library and Katha, the children’s book publisher.
I have also done short filmmaking workshops with children, focussing on visual storytelling skills.
I have also taught in some media colleges in New Delhi including Wigan and Leigh, SACAC and Lady Shriram College. I am currently teaching Video and Television Production at MCRC, Jamia Millia Islamia.
I have been part of Scholastic India’s programme, Storytelling Night and UNESCO’s Travelling Literature Festival, Ghummakad Narain, sharing my work with children in different cities across India.
